Day 3 Itinerary – Rainbow Village, Sun Moon Lake, WenWu Temple, Peacock Garden, Puli Brewery Factory and QingJing The Small Swiss Garden

Rainbow Military Dependents Village 彩虹眷村

Village 1

The whole Village are painted with Colorful Cartoons, Flowers, different kind of patterns & etc.

All painted personally by Mr Huang single-handedly

Mr. Huang is already 90 years old. To him, painting was just a distraction leisure activities and did not expect to be so popular.  The more he painted the more vigorously his painting inspiration drawn attention from newspapers current events, neighbors, tourists as well as local environment.

台中干城六村,又名彩虹眷村,長達150米长的巷道,彩繪各式人像、動物與色塊,地面還有彩虹、花朵與祝福的話, 夢境般場景吸引大批部落客、攝影玩家,孤寂的眷村頓時熱鬧起來;所有圖畫出自九十歲退伍老兵黃永阜之手,他說,畫圖是排遣無聊,沒想到大家喜歡,讓他愈畫愈起勁。

Sun Moon Lake named as one of the Eight Wonders of Taiwan. Located in Yuchi, Nantou County with an elevation of 748 meters above sea level, is the largest freshwater lake nestled in a basin surrounded by picturesque mountains.

The southern part of Lalu Island is shaped like a new moon, and the northern part is shaped like a sun; hence the name Sun Moon Lake.

Sun Moon Lake also called the “Heart of Taiwan” for its role as a major hydropower generator.

The lake’s scenic beauty has given rise to such names as “Pearl in the Mountains,” “Honeymoon Lake,” and “Lovers” Lake.”

日月潭,位於台灣南投縣魚池鄉日月村,為日潭與月潭之合稱,因其雙潭水色各異,一潭呈不規則菱形、另一潭狀似月彎而得名。湖面海拔748公尺,常態面積7.73平方公里,平均水深40米。自然生態豐富,但亦為最多外來種生物的淡水湖泊之一。

Around the perimeter of Sun Moon Lake are a number of small townships and scenic treks clustered into four zones – Shueishe, Wen Wu Temple, Itashao, and Xuan Guang Si.

Itashao is a nice small town.

Itashao, another pint-sized village that is a 10 minutes boat ride from Xuan Guang Si. Itashao means ‘our homeland’ in the aboriginal Thao language.

WenWu Temple 文武廟

Ticket: Free Entrance

Open: 24 hours (Use the side entrance after 20:00hrs)

Wen Wu Temple main entrance

Wenwu Temple is located at the shoulder of a mountain on the north of Sun Moon Lake.   Originally, there were two temples on the Sun Moon Lake coast.  During Japanese government time, they built a dam to generate electricity using the lake, causes the water level raised up. The two temples were then torn down and rebuilt at the present location of Wen Wu Temple in 1938.

The temple consists of three halls. The first hall located on the second floor of the front hall is a shrine devoted to the First Ancestor Kaiji and the God of Literature. The central hall is devoted to Guan Gong, the God of War and the warrior-God Yue Fei. The rear hall is dedicated to Confucius.

Peacock Garden home more than 200 peacocks and pheasants, including 100 plus precious blue magpies. You can get a close-up experience with these different fowls and take beautiful pictures, especially of male peacocks fanning their feathers during courtship.

Due to the warm weather and sweet, clear water of Puli area of central Taiwan, the Puli Brewery Factory has come to be known for producing excellent quality Shaoxing (Shaohsing) Wine featuring a bright yellow appearance and a vigorous fragrance.

The Small Swiss Garden 清境小瑞士花園

The Small Swiss Garden also known as “Taiwan’s Little Switzerland”. The Qingjing cloudy mists at dawn is like a perfect painting; looking at it from a distance, it is as if the clouds and mists were floating, slowly coming closer, becoming one with the clouds on top of the distant mountains.  The pure unadulterated beauty of such a view literally takes one’s breath away.
