Bottle Tree is a medium sized tree ranging in height from 5 to 15 meters, with a broad bottle-shaped trunk @ bottle tree, as large as over 5 metres.
Other common names, including:
- baobab
- dead rat tree
- gouty stem tree
- cream of tartar tree
- gourd-gourd tree
- sour gourd
- gadawon
The plant has many uses, most parts are edible. Australians aborigines obtained water from hollows in the tree and used the white powder that fills the seed pods as food.Ā The leaves were used medicinally.
